No Fair!*

Verses I am studying today:

Colossians 3:13
Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

My Humble View~

Bear (something that is difficult to do or deal with) with each other and forgive (to stop feeling anger toward or about something someone has done ~ to stop blaming) whatever grievances (a feeling of having been treated unfairly ~ a reason for complaining or being unhappy with a situation) you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord (used as a name for God or Jesus Christ) forgave you.

Isaiah 61:10
I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For He has clothed me with garmets of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and a bride adorns herself with jewels.

My Humble View~

I delight (something that makes you very happy ~ something that gives you great pleasure or satisfaction) greatly (to a great extent or degree ~ very much) in the Lord; my soul (the spiritual part of a person that is believed to give life to the body and in many religions is believed to live forever) rejoices (to feel or show that you are very happy about something) in my God. For He has clothed (wearing clothes ~ covered in something) me with garments (a piece of clothing) of salvation (the act of saving someone from sin or evil : the state of being saved from sin or evil) and arrayed (to place (a group of things) in a particular position so that they are in order or so that they look attractive — usually used as (be) arrayed) me in a robe of righteousness (morally good : following religious or moral laws), as a bridegroom adorns (decorates) his head like a priest (a person who has the authority to lead or perform ceremonies) and as a bride adorns herself with jewels

Ephesians 1:7-8
In Him we have redemption though His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

My Humble View~

In him we have redemption (the act of saving people from sin and evil) through his blood, the forgiveness of sins (an action that is considered to be wrong according to religious or moral law ~ very guilty/miserable/ugly) in accordance (in a way that agrees with or follows ~ something, such as a rule or request) with the riches (large amounts ~ good things that are available to use or choose) of God's grace (help or kindness that God gives or shows to people) that He lavished (large amount of something to someone) on us with all wisdom (the natural ability to understand things that most other people cannot understand) and understanding (the knowledge and ability to judge a particular situation or subject ~ a willingness to understand people's behavior and forgive them).

Romans 5:5
And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

My Humble View~

And hope (to want something to happen or be true and think that it could happen or be true) does not disappoint (to make (someone) unhappy by not being as good as expected or by not doing something that was hoped for or expected) us, because God has poured (to flow in a steady stream from or into a container or place) out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit (God in the form of a spirit), whom he has given us.

Me:
Life is not fair. Never has been. Never will be. It sets my teeth (or dentures!) on edge to hear someone lament, "That is NOT FAIR!" It makes me think of that song, "I Never Promised You a Rose Garden". No one, especially God, has ever promised us that life would be fair.

But He is there, waiting for us to come to Him, when life is unfair. He wants us to learn to turn the other cheek. He wants us to forgive. Can't forgive? Ask God to forgive them through you. It is always nice having Him help us when we are unable to do something (yet). Any time the situation creeps back into your mind, call on God to help you forgive.

God loves you, He takes care of you. He does make promises to you. And KEEPS them! Do we deserve that? No... we are sinners and it is not fair of us to expect it. His love, His care and His promises are our gift from Him. Rejoice, spend time with Him and learn is grace. You will be even more blessed by Him :-)

* Before I end for the day I have to tell you about something that my daughter and I share. My grandson was born in August. The following August we wanted to take him to his first Logan Co. Fair. We were all excited! We could not wait to see his little face as he took it all in!

When we got to the fairgrounds, it was empty. My daughter had read the dates wrong. She wailed, "Well that is not FAIR!" I laughed so hard. We attended the No Fair Fair that year! We ended up taking Alex to the park and had a fun afternoon anyway. And the following Saturday he went to the real fair.

Since that time, my goodness he is 14 now! It comes up now and then. When something does not work out as we thought it would we always say... lets go to the Not Fair Fair. Happy Memories!

Love to you and yours,
Patty

  2. Thank you Carol!

Also... thank you for the visit! This is how my momma studied the Bible. I never knew years later that I would be doing it 'her way'. I bet her and God are getting a chuckle out of that!

My daughter lives in CO and I live in WI so I just visit my memories a lot :-) Blessings to you and yours too!

    Love you,
    Patty
