Good Soaking Saturday

I have joined bloom at (in)courage.me and I cannot wait till they start a new book. I have looked over the previous books that they have read. Today when I was on facebook I saw that one was on special so I thought that I would share it here :-) This is for Kindle but you do not have to have a Kindle to read it. You can download the Kindle reader now!

Savings of: $13.20!!

Happy Reading!

Update on Memes: I did have the right word! :-) And I have found a bunch of them. Now... just have to decide which ones to join and remember not too many. Remember Patty... not too many!!

By joining the (in)courage.me group I have really started spending a lot of time with God. He has always been with me but I am understanding him more and more and everything is good! I pray more and more find him and his comfort around me.

 Obedience
Deuteronomy 10:11-13
11) “Go,” the Lord said to me, “and lead the people on their way, so that they may enter and possess the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.” Fear the Lord
12) And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,
13) and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?
I have thought about this word this week. At first I wondered why anyone would have trouble being obedient to God. It seemed easy to me. Then I remembered that I live alone and have very little contact with the outside world and temptations.
AND then I also realized that it really is not easy. I catch myself all the time... having the wrong thoughts rattling around in my head. I pray over it and here lately I sure have been praying a lot. So I better rethink and not judge, eh?

Friday Day 12
My daughter and her husbands 5th anniversary. We are so blessed that they met and married! I thank God everyday that he gave me Nathan as a son to love. Kind of like a bonus! I adore him! A great dad!

Gluttony

I have been missing for three days. I kept busy as an excuse as to why I was not here but I knew that was NOT the answer. I know that praying and  talking to God was the only thing that would really help. I am like an addict. When I find something that I enjoy I have to go over board and 'have it all'. I decided to do my Bible Blog and started running like a chicken with it's head cut off.

First I had to visit everyone's blog and see what they were doing. I wanted to do it too! All of it! I am a glutton. Suzy had this, Betty had that, Karen was doing something else entirely... and me? I started signing up for all of it. Enough to make your head hurt.

I can't be Suzy, Betty and Karen. I really do not want to. I just wanted a nice blog that people would visit. God showed me that Suzy did what she enjoyed and that is what made her blog special. Betty did her own thing that fit her personality. And made her page hers. You know what? Karen was a smart cookie too and knew what worked for her...

I need to stop being a glutton and find what works for me.

Proverbs 23:1-3
1) When you sit to dine with a ruler,
    note well what[a] is before you,
2) and put a knife to your throat
    if you are given to gluttony.
3) Do not crave his delicacies,
    for that food is deceptive.

I think I know what it is... but I will double check with God to see if he agrees this time :-) I love to write... but never know what to write. I have so much inside of me. What I THINK I am looking for is a different Meme for everyday. I am not sure I even have the word right. Like everyday someone assigns a word and you write about it?

Do I have the word correctly? Do you know of any good ones? I want them to be Christian. That would be so cool beans!!

With that said I am  not going to give up One Word 365 or 100 days of Joy as they really give me something to talk to God about! As if we needed more subjects :-) I can keep him busy 365!!

On  another note I received my Jesus Calling by Sarah Young book in the mail yesterday. It is soooooo hard to put down.  I was just going to read it one day at a time but I am finding that I am a glutton for that book. Now THIS is a good thing. I am going to read it straight through and every morning read the days devotion. I am learning so much from the one book!

Obedience

Deuteronomy 8:5-7
5) Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.
6) Observe the commands of the Lord your God, walking in obedience to him and revering him.
7) For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills;

That sounds like a place I want to be. Glorious!!

One Word

I was out visiting some blogs this morning :-) I am always looking for new things! When I stopped by just following Jesus by Elizabeth Stewart I found One Word 365. As I read about it? I thought HEY! I can do that! I can remember one word! If I write it down... LOL!

And the word jumped into my head, uninvited... I mean it. I had not even finished reading about it and the word landed in my brain with both feet.

o·be·di·ence

ōˈbēdēəns/
noun
noun: obedience

    1.
    compliance with an order, request, or law or submission to another authority.
    "children were taught to show their parents obedience"
    synonyms:    compliance, acquiescence, tractability, amenability;
    dutifulness, duty, deference, observance of the law/rules;
    submissiveness, submission, conformity, docility, tameness, subservience, obsequiousness, servility
    "the party leadership wants blind obedience to their policies"

Oh boy! That is a hard word. It is not fun to be obedient. I have been obedient most of my life. Not correctly but obedient none the less. I was obedient to my mother and then my husband. And he was not following God's word.

I have linked One Word 365 to the right if you would like to read about it. And the above graphic is from intentional by grace back to it's page. I wanted a graphic and that was the best I found... other than puppy dogs being trained.

Deuteronomy 5:33
Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.

I want to obedient to God. I think I will find much happiness in this. It will take a lot more prayers than just mine so please put me on your prayer list. A whole lot more ;-)

Today in group we are talking about NOT worrying about tomorrow. This is a big one for me as I have always been a worry~wart. I have told my kids that if there is nothing to worry about I make something up to worry about. I am just that used to worry. I tell myself over and over, Let Go, Let God and it is slowly sinking in. I am catching myself more and more often and turning it around. Thank you Lord! I no longer want to limp through the days worrying about tomorrow.

I lost a neighbor this past weekend. I hope she did not worry all day Saturday about Sunday as for her, Sunday did not come. That would be an awful waste of a day. I will try to keep that in mind. I am learning not to worry over the future and to not fret about my past. God has forgiven me and will not lead me wrong. Pretty great when you stop and think about it!!

Sept 30th Verses:
Matthew 6:34
John 10-10
James 4:13-15

I have been slipping with this already.
I am NOT going to worry about it.
I will just catch up!

Saturday September 28th
Day Six
My Grandson's ''First Date"

Sunday September 29th
Day Seven
Denver Bronco Game

Living in Wisconsin I usually do not get to see my favorite team play but I got to see 3/4 of it yesterday. The Broncos were so far ahead they switched us over to a different game for the last quarter. I got upset at first and then I remembered to thank God for 3/4 instead of grumbling about the last one :-)

Monday Sept 30th
Day Eight

Cleaning the shower. Strange? Very. But I remember when I was so very sick and could not take care of it. That is where I keep Peanut's puppy training papers and if I cannot take care of that I don't think I should have a dog. There was a time when I had to hire help for a couple of weeks and I was very sad. Thankful I did not have to do it but was sad that I couldn't. Today I will scrub and scrub and SMILE :-)

I was so excited about Alex's (group) date that I forgot to find out the young ladies name. I have asked my daughter and I am waiting for her response. I think the twins have her tied up. Again! LOL!!

He looks so little in this picture but he really isn't.
He is as tall as his mom and I!! Or more!

He is ready for his "Bright" future in  this one!
I think he got Granny's & Mom's sense of humor (Yippee!)

One for the  memory book...

May God bless you all!

First Date...

Every day God talks to us. I am learning to be still and listen for what he is teaching me. I am going to put them here (so I can find them :-) and read them many times to remind myself! If you happen to be reading this I will share with you. I hope they touch your heart as well.

This is how I start my day before I even get out of bed. I read today's devotional and then grab my bed Bible and look up the verses. Today's message was to relax in His arms. Instead of getting upset when I run out of steam I should rejoice that God is there to lean on and it is a reminder to trust Him.

I just had a 'lazy day' this week and let myself be a bit upset as I had to stay on the porch instead of running with the big dogs. This message is a comfort to me as, even though my health is better, there are still a lot of down days. Now I know just to kick back, lean on him and enjoy my time spent with him.

Today's verses were: Deuteronomy 33:27 and Psalm 27:13-14

My first stop was my inbox when I got online. From (in)courage.me  there was a post that reminded me of when I was a young mom and  my daughter. Sweet memories (most of them LOL!)

I read: For When Your Child Feels Out of Control (and You Do, Too) by Sarah Mae

She shared:
The Lord your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.
Zephaniah 3:17, ESV

I told her I was going to put it on my blog so I could read it over and over. You can sign up to get her blog posts and also sign up for her Sisterhood Circle. I am going to try it but I may be a fish out of water. It may just be young moms :-)

Last night I was half way listening to the TV and half way reading or half way playing a game that is supposed to calm me down for the night.... I just zone out. My phone chimed at 11:30 pm. It was my daughter... texting that my grandson has his first 'date' tonight. He just turned 14 and has always been shy. Mary said, "Where did MY Alex go? Who is this kid that TALKS to classmates and ASKS a girl out???"

Don't worry. It is a small town and someone knows someone and the girl is a good girl. And... it is a group date. They are all meeting in the park and then my son in law is going to be chauffeur for the evening. Wow... my grand baby.... wasn't he just born a year or two ago??

AND the girl? (I feel awful as I was in a state of shock and forgot to ask her name) was voted homecoming queen last night!

This is a picture of Alex... he turned 14 on Aug 28th and the twins arrived on Aug 29th. Mary said he is VERY good with them. He is so young! Please pray that they have a wonderful, safe, fun, safe, happy, safe time. God will be with them!

That is it for today... my inbox is empty and my news has run out. I have linked most of this and hope you enjoy and have an awesome weekend! I will probably see you Monday!
