Talking Turkey

One of my (too) many goals with this blog is to write from my heart and have Bible verses to back it up. I have been using verses from a beloved book, Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. And I do love that book and I do enjoy having it and using it. But I am parroting her, not coming up with my own. I want to be a big girl Christian blogger! Today I woke up with this in my heart and 2 Bible verses bouncing around in my head. I hope I can remember them :-) And... what a subject! TURKEY! LOL!

The first verse is above on the pretty banners I found at Crosscards. I had hoped to use them in this way! Please be sure to read the note at the bottom so you will be blessed abundantly! Just click on the banner to visit!

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart! Psalms 37:4 He really and truly does! I have found... the Lord does it more often than we think and we just do not recognize it. By spending more time with Him you will start to recognize it more and more!

Yesterday was Wednesday and I have a hard time blogging on Wednesday. It is hard to get anything done because I get interrupted. :-) My MaryBeth comes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to help me with anything and everything. Monday and Friday are her quick visits of just an hour and I can usually stop what I am doing and then resume when she leaves. Wednesday? Not so much. She is here for 2 1/2 hours, I talk non~stop, we laugh, we enjoy and we share. I lose my train of thought and many times have not been able to finish what I  have started.

Yesterday was grocery shopping day so I had my list made up and she was good to go. It is like Christmas morning when she gets back. Even though I was the one who made the list and checked it twice! All sorts of good things and snacks for the month.

I had Turkey Legs (about 4 but 3 or 5 will do) on  my list. I put it on the list that way as we never know how they will be packaged. I had just cooked the ones in the freezer and thought I had better have some on hand for the next time I was craving it.

As I wrote that down my mind wandered back to the Thanksgivings when I was raising Mary and Kevin and I said to myself, I wish I could cook a Thanksgiving meal for my babies just one more time. I miss cooking a turkey. I and Peanut would never make our way though one!

MaryBeth shopped, the pharmacy stopped by with my months medications and Cory, the maintenance man stopped by to test the smoke alarms. Very busy day. Poor Peanut passed out from all the barking excitement!

Last night I thought I had better check the cash register tape to see what to deduct from my bank funds. And found a surprise! 4 packs of (4) turkey legs. At first I thought maybe the cashier had hiccups ~ but there was different prices. I gasped and went to the freezer. LOL! 16 Turkey Legs!! I am still laughing as I type this!

I texted MaryBeth to let her know that we got our wires crossed. And then I said that I now had something to put in everyone's stockings! She said at least she knew what she was getting for Christmas! I am sure we will talk more turkey tomorrow when she is here. As I have something to share.

When I was waiting for sleep to come last night I thought... God knew what my heart desired. He gave me a 10 pound turkey. Packed up in packages that Peanut and I can manage. He blessed me. And gave me a story to share with my children and you.

Matthew 7:7~8
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;  knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone  who asks receives; the one who seeks finds;  and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

I desired, God sent MaryBeth to my door and I have the turkey to prove it :-) And it is my favorite kind! The drumstick!

Please share this with someone that you love. Pass it on. If you have a prayer request you know what to do. If you would like to pray with us, we can do that too!

I love you!
Patty

*Crossroads Cards has a lot of beautiful things. You can send ecards, you can get wallpaper for your monitor, facebook covers and they have newsletters & gift shop. This note is to let you know... when you go to look at the facebook banners you will not see a huge amount. BUT if you click on one and then keep hitting next? You will see tons of them! I collected a lot for my blog, a newsletter I am thinking about and I just might possibly use it as they were meant to be on facebook. LOL! I love pretty things!

  1. I keep wanting to giggle (and I promise I won't go through and comment on every single post on your blog!) when I look through your blog. This post made me smile. I communicate in ways that seem so clear to me at the time and quite not-so-much to others. I know I drive people crazy. I think I have adult ADD. The channels are constantly changing.

Then I noticed how you said somewhere you have to immediately investigate new books you hear about. Me too! Gotta have them NOW! Gracious, lady! I can't tell you how many books I have -- real and e-books! And, yes, I never get them all read. AND...........Jesus Calling is one of 3 I read every single morning! Our Daily Bread, Streams in the Desert, and Jesus Calling speak into my life consistently. I write out my heart's cries before I open them and they answer faithfully.

Yep, we're kindred spirits. I can just see reflections of myself in your words and ways and it is so comforting! I bet you love office supplies and sniff books, too, don't you!

    Hugs!
